Job Description
CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting Senior Construction Managers to oversee the construction process for CBE’s renewable energy project for the Kamoa Copper Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project consists of a ~220 MWp solar PV, and a ~500 MWh battery energy storage system. The project is currently in procurement. The project’s commissioning is planned for Q1, 2026.
The Senior Construction Managers will contribute to all facets of project planning and execution for the Kamoa hybrid project’s construction. They will be the main interface between CBE’s Project Implementation Team, CBE’s EPC contractors, and CBE’s clients on topics related to the construction of CBE’s projects. This role will be responsible for reporting on project progress, managing project partners to act consistently with CBE’s technical and EHS standards, raising gaps in performance to CBE’s project manager, and ensuring corrective measures are taken on-site where needed. The Construction Manager will report to the Project Manager.
These positions are available as 12-month initial contracts, with the opportunity to convert to permanent placement subject to performance. The permanent positions would offer opportunities to service additional CBE renewable energy projects across Africa following the completion of the installation at the Kamoa Mine.

Required Qualifications
Education - Degree in Engineering or construction related field with formal qualification attained in engineering, project management or construction management.
10+ years proven experience in construction management required, specifically in the construction of renewable energy projects or large-scale infrastructure projects.
3+ years of experience of PV Project construction or large-scale infrastructure projects, at sites with construction projects involving civil works, MV electrical, mechanical, and commissioning activities .
Demonstrated ability to deliver on construction of large-scale energy projects, through the full project lifecycle.
Strong technical knowledge of solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and thermal power generation technologies.
Work experience/competency or demonstrated familiarity with large-scale and hybrid renewable energy generation plants, especially hybrid solar PV, BESS plants, and thermal power plants.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and multicultural teams.
Professional fluency in English and French, speaking, and writing.
Professional fluency in the use of Microsoft Office suite tools, including Excel and Word
Professional knowledge of MS Projects and Primavera required
Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work independently, without on-site supervision. This will be a remotely managed position.
Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Construction Manager will support the CBE project team, EPC, and subcontractors in general project implementation coordination and EHS management duties. Additional specific duties are listed below:
Monitor and update project work schedules using existing templates and effectively track project progress throughout construction. Monitor and drive the EPC and sub-contractor compliance to the schedule, project documents and budget, and raise any non-compliances with the Project Manager(s).
Prepare regular/weekly progress reports, status updates, and presentations for internal management, stakeholders, and project sponsors to provide visibility into project performance and ensure alignment with expectations.
Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders to complete scheduled tasks.
Identify project schedule and budget risks at an early stage and alert the Project Implementation Manager in time to minimize or mitigate impacts.
Meet with third-party technical stakeholders (including attending weekly progress and EHS progress meetings) to ask questions and accurately take notes on construction problems for later discussion and review with the Project Implementation Manager.
Consistently, accurately, and clearly capture project EHS and construction data. Transmit weekly reports to the team through existing tools in accordance with reporting deadlines, including stakeholder grievances and any incident reports.
Investigate opportunities to improve the project implementation and construction process to deliver the best value to the customer and CBE.
Interpret basic technical design principles related to energy systems, electrical systems, and the built environment, including technical drawings and equipment data sheets.
Apply international standards for environmental, social, and health & safety risk management thoroughly, knowledgeably, and consistently on solar construction sites via ESMS procedures.
Coordinate preparation, review, and revision of draft RAMs produced by EPC and subcontractors to plan appropriately for mitigating risks during project construction. The construction manage will also support his team/contractors during approval phases to sure the RAMs documentation is available and approved before any activities commence.
Demonstrate awareness of all laws and regulations relevant to project work and proactively raise questions with the Project Implementation Manager about best practices for compliance.
Support application for and acquisition of project permits for generation, construction, environmental certification, and any other permissions as appropriate.
Use and build existing processes and tools to manage project implementation, and effectively de-risk CBE’s construction projects.
Support in asserting key elements of EHS on a construction site, confidently recommending changes and new ways of operating to teammates and external contractors.
Support in conducting site audits of compliance with CBE and international EHS standards. Recommend and validate corrective actions to close compliance gaps.
Work with CBE’s Supplier Chain team to track procurement orders and coordinate with the EPC contractor to prioritize construction activities according to equipment delivery schedules. The construction manager will coordinate the on-time delivery of free Issue material on site with the supply chain team.
Assess and substantiate variation orders/change orders and escalate to the internal project implementation team as necessary.
Perform pre-invoice verification to ensure that milestones’ deliverables are achieved before payments are paid out to EPC contractors.
Prepare interface matrices for the construction process, for both internal and external interfaces, and covering mechanical, electrical, control and communication interfaces of the project.
Accurately carry out project document control and monitor the documentation through to project’s completion.
Monitor and report on key project metrics: HSE management, QA/QC, Document control, progress assessment of site activities and community liaison.

Location
The staff’s place of work and/or authorized duty station shall be in such a location as designated by the Company from time to time and in its sole discretion. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Company anticipates that the staff’s duty station shall be in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The successful candidate will perform work for the initial 12 months between Nairobi and on-site in the Democratic Republic of Congo, supervising construction activities. Subsequent assignments, as applicable, would require frequent international travel.
