Job Description
The Supply Chain Manager at CBE will be tasked with the autonomous management of project procurement and international supplier relations, including suppliers from China and Europe. The person will handle duties related to both compliance and commercial excellence, including quality assurance, and will be a crucial member of the team, contributing to the company's impact on the global clean energy landscape. The ideal candidate is a self-starter passionate about making lasting changes in emerging markets, with a background in construction procurement for African solar PV businesses.

Who You Are
  • You are a self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change within emerging markets.
  • You have a background in construction procurement for businesses who operate in Africa, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
  • You possess excellent attention to detail, but are solution-oriented and able to operate in environments that are constantly changing.
  • You are comfortable managing multiple work streams simultaneously, and can prioritize to effectively deliver on tasks within the deadline.
  • You are interested in leveraging automated systems/platforms to streamline processes.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage project procurement and international supplier relations, including suppliers from China and Europe.
  • Manage EPC, supply and subcontractor agreements.
  • Accurately complete shipping documentation in-house and comply with shipping line and forwarding agent requirements.
  • Update costing schedules and systems for accurate cost provision.
  • Source and negotiate contract terms with suppliers such as photovoltaic vendors and logistics providers.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding their shipping requirements, including documents, shipping details, and delivery.
  • Optimise the role of supply chain within the larger project implementation function.
  • Build and manage relationships with suppliers to efficiently deliver products to projects on time, within budget and at the right quality.
  • Building costing tools from scratch to track and report on project spend and deliveries.
Qualifications
  • Ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
  • 6 to 8 years' logistics experience in international cargo movement via air freight, sea freight, road freight, and courier express shipments. Shipping experience to African countries is required.
  • Familiarity with documents such as Certificate of Origin, SONCAP, Bills of Lading, Import and Export Permits.
  • Shipping knowledge for general and hazardous cargo.
  • Computer skills: MS Office (Advanced Excel skills are mandatory).
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to strict timelines.
  • Reliable, organised, and meticulous.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Customer service-driven and adept at negotiating with suppliers.

Location
Cape Town, South Africa is preferred, but we are open to candidates being based in Nairobi, Kenya as an alternative location.
