What you'll do

CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting a Senior Network Operations Centre (NOC) Manager for the development and implementation of its Telecom Energy as a Service Company (TESCo) activities in Africa. Our hybrid Power System solutions can provide cheap, reliable and renewable power to our customers, but require 24x7x365 monitoring to maximise Power Availability and return on investment.  The Senior NOC Manager will be responsible for overall 24x7x365 monitoring of CBE and selected client assets, working closely with subcontractors, platform providers, and the client.  CBE is not an EPC or a pure developer, as we seek to build a portfolio of long-term, high-performing assets, CBE will look to you for practical insights on how to make discrete business decisions that will directly affect our financial outcomes. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage first line engineering support to CBE and Client Assets on a 24x7x365 basis 

  • Act as the single point of contact for client Network Operations Centre leadership, managing the interface for resolution of issues that require both CBE and Client interventions 

  • Identify, negotiate, contract and train subcontractor resources to act as first line engineering support within Client NOCs,  

  • Document, disseminate and continually improve first line engineering ticket resolution processes  

  • Act as the decision maker for incidents that require escalation to 2nd and 3rd line support lines,  

  • Coordinate closely with the O&M manager and Security Manager to ensure that field service tickets are completed and closed as per documented processes 

  • Lead feedback and advice into platform and systems providers and other IT stakeholders to continually improve and optimize processes through automation and digitization initiatives 

  • Report and analyse performance data on Network Operations, especially MTTR and othert incident resolution metrics, including providing reporting data necessary to manage subcontractors and field agents 

  • Support with project management through implementation including:  

  • Support during Kickoff meeting and ongoing stakeholder engagement 

  • Project progress and quality reviews  

  • Project Readiness, trials, and testing  

  • Support the CBE technical team on an adhoc basis on projects across the full CBE ESCo portfolio 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years relevant working experience 

  • 3+ year work experience in managing Network Operations Teams within a MNO, Distributed Energy Utility or TowerCo 

  • Working knowledge of Telecom BTS and preferably hybrid energy systems  

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, and process improvement methodologies such as Lean6SIgma 

  • Undergone some project management training 

  • Experience working in Africa 

  • Interest and understanding of the telecom world 

  • Experience with monitoring and control systems 

Required skills and qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s engineering degree (mechanical/electrical/electronic) 

  • 2+ years work experience supervising or leading Network Operations Teams of distributed energy assets  

  • Demonstrated ability to independently supervise multi-stakeholder projects 

  • Clear effective communicator across diverse audiences 

  • Writes clearly, professionally, and without grammatical errors
