What You’ll Do
CrossBoundary Energy (CBE) is recruiting a Plant Operator to support day-to-day operations and maintenance at its Kamoa hybrid PV + BESS facility. The role involves continuous monitoring of plant performance, tracking underperformance and breakdowns, dispatching technical teams, coordinating with plant management, and supporting routine preventive and corrective maintenance activities across communication and SCADA systems. You will assist senior technical staff with fault-finding activities and help ensure the site meets strict availability and baseload obligations.
This is a site-based rotational role in Kolwezi (typically 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off), with accommodation provided at the on-site camp within the plant boundary.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance (PM) and first-level corrective maintenance (CM) on substation equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitor plant performance on a 24/7 basis.
  • Work scheduled daily shifts.
  • Track plant underperformance and equipment breakdowns, and dispatch technical teams as required.
  • Track forecasting accuracy and coordinate closely with plant management.
  • Conduct substation inspections, thermography, torque checks, cleaning quality verification, and support vegetation control coordination under the mechanized field services model.
  • Use plant SCADA and analytics tools to acknowledge alarms, capture supporting evidence, and escalate issues to senior technicians when thresholds or fault patterns indicate deeper problems.
  • Support inverter and MV station interventions alongside senior technicians and OEMs, including preparing work areas, tools, permits, and spare parts.
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and parts usage logs, and contribute to daily and weekly performance and availability reporting.
  • Comply with all HSSE requirements, including LOTO/PTW procedures, toolbox talks, and mine-site protocols. Stop work and escalate concerns when unsafe conditions are identified.
Qualifications
Required
  • Technical engineering qualification or certified electrician training.
  • 2–3 years of practical experience in PV operations and maintenance, SCADA systems, communication systems (PLC, RTU, Modbus), commissioning, or related electrical work.
  • Basic proficiency with PV inverters, DC strings, and balance-of-system (BOS) components.
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Strong experience in high-voltage (HV) switching operations.
  • A strong safety mindset and willingness to work site-based rotational shifts and reside within the plant camp.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with VCOM (PV analytics), SCADA alarm workflows, and basic performance KPIs such as availability and performance ratio (PR).
  • Experience working within mine-site HSSE systems.
  • French and English language proficiency.
