Job Description

CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time analyst to assist with the entire value chain across investment advisory in Africa. 

As an Analyst, you will be tasked with evaluating investment opportunities, conducting macroeconomic market assessments, and providing transaction support to both investors and capital seekers. This may include identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, facilitating investment exits, conducting financial analysis, performing due diligence, conducting business development, managing client relationships, and representing CrossBoundary at conferences and similar events. Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high-impact sectors will be regarded favorably. 

Experience working in high-caliber investment banking and/or management consulting institutions will be regarded favorably.

Who You Are 

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1-3 years of experience in top-tier banking, consulting, private equity, or similar
  • Strong quantitative skills and finance background; familiar with company evaluations, valuations, and financial modeling
  • Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issues
  • Understanding of business dynamics in an emerging market context
  • Ability to build strong relationships with partners and colleagues
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences
  • Self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change in frontier markets
  • Ability to operate effectively in a changing context
  • Willingness to work in a sometimes challenging environment
  • Open-minded, values-driven individual, comfortable working with individuals from diverse personal and professional backgrounds

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct project analyses from start to completion with limited supervision
  • Prepare presentations with business plans, explanation of management structure, competitive landscape, and financial projection to recommend strategies
  • Market Assessment and ongoing market analysis
  • Conduct macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments
  • Provide sector analysis of priority areas for investment
  • Investor sourcing
  • Manage numerous investor relationships
  • Develop company valuation and detailed financial models
  • Perform sensitivity analysis and stress testing to examine impacts on valuation
  • Coordinate due diligence and transaction execution
  • Manage client relationships

Location

The Analyst will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with some travel expected.
