Job Description 

Access is recruiting a full-time Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial performance of our distributed renewable energy portfolio, while playing a key role in shaping new projects. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of finance, operations, and innovation—ideal for a commercially-minded problem-solver eager to shape the future of energy access in Africa.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Own the P&L for Access’ growing portfolio of operating projects 

  • Manage new and existing partnerships with local operators to ensure commercial and technical excellence, while ensuring contractual targets are met 

  • Design, review and improve commercial strategies and processes to drive profitability 

  • Present key commercial insights and recommendations to leadership and shareholders 

  • Act as the focal point between different disciplines within the Access team, including Engineering, ESG, Legal, Finance, and Operations to drive commercial success 

  • Manage Access’ Technical and Operations teams and provide strategic advice to Access leadership team  

Qualifications 

Required skills and qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of experience in operating, financing, or consulting on renewable energy projects 

  • Experience with off-grid generation projects in Africa  

  • Strong verbal and written communication in English 

The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field  

  • Strong quantitative skills; familiar with valuation, project finance, and financial models for renewable energy projects 

  • Familiarity with project finance legal contracts 

  • Professional proficiency in French
