Crossboundary Energy is recruiting a SCADA operator to monitor and control the solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant via the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This role emphasizes real-time performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, efficiency optimization, and reliable plant operation, while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
What You’ll Do
The PV Plant Scada Operator will support the plant manager with general O&M coordination and performance monitoring. Specific duties include:
- Monitor the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the PV Solar plant and associated electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Support in executing scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM guidelines and CBE standards.
- Troubleshoot alarms, identify root causes of faults, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor system availability, performance KPIs, and downtime, and escalate major issues to the Plant Manager.
- Maintain accurate data logs.
- Partake in toolbox talks, site safety audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with CBE’s ESMS and international EHS standards.
- Identify opportunities for performance improvements and reliability enhancements.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to real-time system alerts.
- Effective communication and coordination with technical teams.
- Proficiency in monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Education – Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Trade certification/Journeyman qualification in electrical systems
- Certification in 33kV switching
- 2–5 years of experience in SCADA operations or power plant monitoring.
- Minimum 2-5 years proven experience in PV Solar Plant operations, industrial systems, or commissioning
- Strong understanding of PV system components, inverters, transformers, and electrical protection schemes.
- Proficiency in SCADA software for monitoring, data acquisition, and troubleshooting.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Professional fluency in the use of Microsoft Office suite tools, including Excel and Word
- Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work independently.
Location
The staff’s place of work and/or authorized duty station shall be in such a location as designated by the Company from time to time and in its sole discretion. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Company anticipates that the staff’s primary duty station shall be the Caledonia Mining Services Solar Plant, Gwanda, Zimbabwe, with immediate deployment to the site upon commencement of employment.
Depending on operational needs, the Company may adopt rotating work arrangements, including Rest & Recuperation (R&R) policies, to promote staff well-being and improve operational efficiency.
